Birding by Bike
BIRDING BY BIKE Last year, 2005, CHOG member Simon Woolley set out on a Hampshire year list with a difference. The rules were simple, see as many species as possible without the use of motorized transport. A task made even harder when you live in landlocked Winchester. Incredibly, Simon notched up a final total of 217, an achievement that involved almost weekly rides from his home to the coast. Simon has now published a book detailing this gruelling year. Included in the 64 pages are over 50 photographs, some of them in colour, a full species list and a bike-birding glossary. Copies are priced at just £5.00 and all proceeds will go to Winchester College's Tsunami Relief Fund. If you would like to purchase a copy, please click here for further details
