Hen Harrier at
Coward's Marsh
On January 7th 2012,
a male Hen Harrier was seen from Coward's Marsh, a site in the Lower
Avon Valley outside of the recognised CHOG recording area, but only
by a kilometre or so. From then on, the bird was seen regularly throughout
January and, uncharacteristically for the species, seemed to spend pretty
much all day in the same small area. On 11th January, a bird was seen
high over Stanpit that could well have been this individual.
