Double figures of
emperors, Anax Imperator, all around Lily Pond and Ironstone
Quarry.
Lots of Black Tailed
Skimmers, Orthetrum Cancellatum, around Ironstone Quarry in particular?
The males competing aggressively for territories.
Fewer Four-Spotted
Chasers, Libellula Quadrimaculata, now, but still good number
around Lily Pond and Batters
Common Blue Damselflies,
Enallagma Cyathigerum, are all around ponds now
Butterflies
Small Skippers are
now all around the grassy areas of the head, and good numbers of Gatekeepers
are also in evidence, as well as the omnipresent meadow browns.
