Storm Petrel
off Hengistbury
On May 30th, 2011,
after a couple of days of half-decent Storm Petrel presence off Hengistbury,
a boat was hastily arranged to try and get closer. Unfortunately, in
the hours preceding departure, the wind shifted direction and dropped
significantly. Nevertheless, around 2-miles out, single Storm Petrel
were attracted to the boat on four occasions by the prototype chum mix.
Something a little more pungent was probably needed to make them linger,
however!
