Wader ID workshop with our serious young birders- developing identification skills for what can be a tricky group of birds. September sees a lot of waders migrating and the return of Wintering birds such as Curlew.

Meet at Stanpit car park 6pm with an anticipated finish 8pm.

All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult

Nature walk with a “Things to find” theme! Fun evening with clues and puzzles which help the group become “Nature Detectives”! Magnifying glasses and Sherlock Holmes hats at the ready!

Walk around the Head during one of Nature’s busiest months for birds and animals -raising families is in full swing! Lots of birds and insects to see and flowers to appreciate.

Young CHOG Nightjar Walk St Catherines Hill

Caprimulgus Europaeus! The Nightjar is one of the most evocative of our Summer birds and once seen and heard never forgotten. Its not just about Goat Suckers-Woodcock, Deer and Bats are likely to be encountered. To encounter Nightjars we need to be out at last light-so a latish finish (10.15 expected-you know your children and whether this is too late).

Getting our young members (and parents) out and about connecting with the energy that Spring brings-everything is waking up! Curiosity is a super power, and we will encourage everyone to look deep into nature and make connections.

Young CHOG Stanpit Marsh Night Walk

Young CHOG out on night ops around Stanpit Marsh! Nothing better to use all our senses than a night walk, listening to the wildlife chattering away in the night and trusting our feet.

Young CHOG Pebbles on the Beach Walk at Hengistbury Head.

Walk along the Hengistbury shore-looking at pebbles, wildlife and hopefully dipping our toes sea (just our toes-weather dependent). A walk of 2 miles along the beach and back using our 5 senses to help connect with the outside world and young members out and about. Free to all members and non members.

Winter on Stanpit Marsh
Short walk around the marsh taking in the birdlife that make the harbour their home for the Winter-expect to see Redshanks, Oystercatchers and Godwits, along with Seagulls and Ducks. The walk will be about 2 hours and we will finish at the visitors centre where a hot drink will be waiting!
